Stay in Motion

An object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by another force.

An object at rest stays at rest unless acted upon by another force.

The Law of Inertia. Objects want to continue to do what they have always done and it takes an outside force to change that.

Have you ever thought of how much that applies to everyday life? Have you ever thought about how much people dislike change? Everyone prefers to continue to do what they have always done and the only way to change that is to use some kind of force, whether that be positive or negative.

Think about how easy it is to just lay in bed in the morning. Why don’t we? We don’t because there is something inside of us, another force, that tells us get up and get on with our day. If you love your life, it’s probably pretty easy to get up, but if not, it may be another story.

Now think about those busy days where you are going from one thing to the next. You sit down at the end of that long day and wonder how you managed to get so much done. You were in motion, which made it easier to stay in motion. You went from one thing to the next without stopping.

What am I getting at here?

The hardest part of life is to get started! With anything. Whatever your goals are, the hardest part of the journey is starting. It’s hard to find that force you need to get the ball rolling or to set yourself in motion. I get that. Honestly, you may never FIND the force you need. So then what? Are you just going to give up? No. You have to CREATE the force. You have to want this dream bad enough to decide that you are not going to wait around for things to happen anymore (because they probably wont). You have to realize that life is never going to be in perfect alignment for you to get started, the force isn’t just going to appear out of nowhere. You have to want the dream bad enough to CREATE the force. The force that will get you started in motion.

Once you do that, the magic happens.

You are in motion and chasing after your dreams full speed ahead. Everything is going great! You created the force to get you moving and now you feel like you can go for forever. You have discovered how to create a force strong enough to keep you going and you know how to use it!

Then life happens, the force that stops you dead in your tracks. You’re no longer in motion. Now what? The force you created to get you moving no longer works to keep you going and the stopping force wins. So what do you do now?

You have to decide that you are stronger than what has stopped you. You have to DECIDE that you are going to create an even greater force to overcome what has stopped you. You find a way around that stopping force and you keep going. You will eventually pick up momentum again, even if that takes some time.

The important thing is to never give up. You need to accept that things will not happen on their own and that if you want something, you have to CREATE a force strong enough to get you through anything that may come in your way. You are in control. Nothing is going to be handed to you, you have to make it happen.

Once you learn how do that, the possibilities are endless.
